Curitiba Tourism to Partner with State
The president of the Municipal Tourism Office, Juliana Vosnika, met on Monday (January 31) with the State Secretary of Tourism, Faisal Saleh, to discuss measures to strengthen activities in Curitiba and Paraná. The meeting was held in the office of the state secretary.
“The partnership between municipalities and the State Government is critical for tourism,” said Juliana. She highlighted the Institute’s intention to work alongside the state secretary at events such as the Americas Fair, the largest tourist exhibition in Latin America, held annually in Rio de Janeiro.
“We also wish to work together to improve Afonso Pena Airport, which is in need of several renovations and infrastructural upgrades even before the World Cup in 2014. With these improvements, it will be possible, among other things, to expand the draw of big events to Paraná,” she said.
Juliana also presented the brand “Enjoy Curitiba”, designed to strengthen the image of the city as a personalized destination and to attract visitors. The brand is being used in leaflets and posters for dissemination, promotional activities and tourist attractions. In 2011, the Institute will focus on activities to strengthen and internationalize the brand, in preparation for the World Cup 2014.
Another issue submitted was Curitiba’s proposal for financial assistance from Prodetur, a program of the Ministry of Tourism designed to fund infrastructural projects, professional training and institutional support in states and municipalities.
Juliana also asked the secretary to attend the next meeting of the Municipal Tourism Council to be held later this month.
