Disney Brings Christmas to Dom Bosco IMAX in 3D
Christmas is just one more reason for Ebenezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey) to be in a bad mood, who treats the date with great contempt and mockery. He is an old skinflint, whose obsession with financial success has left him bitter and alone in his old age. But, one Christmas Eve, Scrooge learns the most important lesson in his life, when the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come pay him a visit; taking him on a journey through his life, which will open his heart to something much more powerful than money: love, friends and Family.
From 6th November at the Dom Bosco Imax Theatre, the public will be completely immersed in a new and very exciting vision of one of the best-loved holiday classics of all time when Disney’s A Christmas Carol is shown for the first time. Digitally re-mastered using IMAX DMR ® technology, it boasts both sound and images of incomparable quality.
In this experience, the spectator is pulled into the film, watching the snowflakes falling on his head, as well as hearing the hubbub of the horse-drawn carriages on the cobbled streets and the sounds of Scrooge’s flight through London’s night sky all around him. With crystal-clear pictures, laser aligned sound and maximised field of vision, this will be one of this year’s great IMAX experiences. “It’s as if Charles Dickens had written the story to be such a visual and cinematographic film”, said Robert Zemeckis, director/producer/screenwriter. “It is the greatest time-travel story ever written and I wanted to make the film the way I believe it was originally imagined by the author”.
Synopsis:
Ebenezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey) starts the Christmas holiday with his usual scorn and greed, barking at his faithful clerk (Gary Oldman) and his happy nephew (Colin Firth). Later, Scrooge meets the ghost of his late business partner Joseph Marley, who is paying the price of his own insensibility in life after death. Marley hopes to help Scrooge avoid a similar destiny and tells him that he will be visited by three spirits. But when the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come visit old Scrooge and take him on an eye-opening journey, they reveal that he is a loath man, and that he should open his heart to undo years of bad will, before it is too late.
Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the film is his own adaptation of the classic novel by Charles Dickens. The film is the first developed by ImageMovers Digital, a company created by Robert Zemeckis, Steve Starkey and Jack Rapke to develop 3D films, exclusively for Walt Disney Studios. Disney’s Christmas Carol is produced by Starkey, Zemeckis and Rapke.
